Rotary Seminyak Bali Fundraising - Aid Project

Compassion, Joy, Love, Equanimity Bracelets & Keychain Rings

Seminyak, Bali, 22 June, 2005: Jewellery Designers Myrtha and Silvie, who are both members of The Rotary Club Bali Seminyak, have created an extraordinary bracelet set and key-chain ring and they have decided to turn 40 percent of the proceeds from sales into life-giving liquid assets for Rotary Bali Seminyaks projects to help people in need.

The four words in the heading of this release are featured on the bracelet and key-ring in the traditional Balinese script. These words were chosen by the designers because they felt that they epitomised the essential objectives of Rotary and what Rotary aims to achieve in the World.

They are what The Dalai Lama described as the Divine States of Dwelling, The Four Gates, which, when experienced fully, establish the foundations for happier, healthier living and an enlightened society.

Compassion is a sense of shared suffering, most often combined with a desire to alleviate or reduce such suffering; to show special kindness to those who suffer.

Joy, happiness or pleasure is the emotional state of being happy. The definition of happiness is one of the greatest philosophical quandaries. Proposed definitions include freedom from want and distress, consciousness of the good order of things, assurance of one's place in the universe or society, inner peace, and so forth.

Love is the most profoundly integrated state in the universe. It is simultaneously the highest, deepest and most powerful state of consciousness.

Equanimity is essentially a calmness of mind or temper; composure. In equanimity one still notices and cares about what is going on but has the capacity to be active rather than merely reactive.

The bracelet Sets and Key-chain Ring, will be launched on 28 June, 2006, at the annual Hand-over Dinner of the Rotary Club of Seminyak, this is when the current President of the club and other Board Members hand over office to the new President and Board, who will be in place until 30 June, 2007.

The Function will be held at Fabios Restaurant and F Lounge in Seminyak, and will be a buffet dinner at a cost of Rp.150,000 per person, including one drink. Additional drinks will have to be paid for separately with 10% of the bar takings going to charity. Of the cost of the dinner, Rp.50,000 will go towards funding Rotary projects.

The bracelet Sets and Key-chain Rings are made from 925 sterling silver and Balinese beads.

Cynthia Gale Aceh h2obali Aid Project: "Seven Families of Faith" Bracelet

Jewelry Designer Cynthia Gale is turning 100 percent of the proceeds from an extraordinary bracelet she created into life-giving "liquid assets" for the survivors of the tsunami disaster in Indonesia.

Cynthia : "This project is definately taking some time to coordinate but it is so "right on". We are so very cogniscent of the fact that while the images of the tsunami are fading from the front pages of the US media, the results of this tragedy will be felt for months and years to come."

Gale's "Seven Families of Faith" bracelet was designed especially for Washington National Cathedral and the designer is launching a campaign, which will contribute 100% of the proceeds to bring clean drinking water to the people in the ravaged Aceh province on the island of Sumatra.
