African martial traditions are vast and very old. On the tombs of Beni Hasan there are depictions of Egyptians and Nubians engaged in many different kinds of warlike practices ie stickfighting, wrestling, archery ect. Throughout the continent there exist various forms of stickfighting, wrestling, and boxing. Zulu stick fighting, Donga stick fight, Nuba wrestling, Laamb, Dambe, Tahteeb, El Matregh, Evala, Gidigbo ect
In the America several forms of African combat served as the basis for not only the most popular of the African martial arts, Capoeira, but also the many martial-dance-fight-games of the West ie Danmye, Kalenda, Mani, Knockin' and Kickin', Morengy, Bat bwa, Batuque ect.
The group is open to all who care to share and receive knowledge of Africa's contribution to the world of martial arts and the way of the warrior.
