Greetings All,
My name is Nick, welcome to the Pagan Grove! My focus is primarily based on Celtic traditions, but Pagans of all belief systems are welcome to join in any discussions or post there own! I ask that everyone is respectful of others opinions and thoughts, we are civilized beings I'm sure we can work out any differences in a civilized manner!
>I am a
Celtic Bard and Fili, this journey started for me at the age of 12 or 13. I was raised in a very open minded Catholic household; Although I appreciated many of the lessons and values of Christianity, I realized that I could not find the answers my spirit needed within the confines of the Church. I always felt a strong connection to the natural world, and so I decided to look into nature based religions. I was immediately drawn towards Celtic Spirituality, and spent a few years reading, learning, and practicing what I call modern Celtic Spirituality(some people would call this Celtic "Shamanism"(but I disapprove of the combination of the the words Celtic and Shaman, being they are two completely unrelated things!) I then became interested in Modern Druidism, I spent two years studying with the
Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids(OBOD), where I earned the title of Bard. While I do agree with many concepts of Modern Druidism, I do not think we will ever be able to compare ourselves to the Druids of ancient times and I had to move on. I began to study
Senistrognata Celtic Reconstruction.(CR) I found Celtic Reconstruction to be to rigid for myself, I do not think we can emulate the beliefs of our ancestors without some changes...after all times have changed and we must evolve our beliefs to fit into the modern world! This brings me to wear I am now, I am a Celtic Evolutionist...This is not a path I have just stumbled upon, but it is one that I have helped to create! Along with the help of my fellow co-founders Rusty and Rick, we founded the
Na Creidmhigh Tradition of Celtic Evolutionism We strive to evolve the beliefs of our ancestors to fit into the modern world, without removing the values of our ancestors! What is most important to realize is despite the fact that I am not a Modern Druid or a CR, does not mean that the lesson I learned from them are insignificant! With out their lessons and aid I would never have been able to help create the still developing tradition of Celtic Evolution...despite our differences in beliefs we are all Celts at heart!
I am a very open minded individual, and believe that all religion holds truth. I aim to do my best to support the Pagan community; to help people grow in their own beliefs regardless of what path they may follow, and to help the world around us see that we are not as different as they may think!
