Group Purpose To tell comedy fans about great comedians and comedy venues in LA they might otherwise not hear about.

New Invites: {aka why are you inviting me?} Invitations to this group are currently done by the proximity to the shows I'm listing. This group is about LA comedy so I will not be inviting anyone from Oregon. That doesn't mean you aren't welcome to join. If I know of a free Beverly Hills show, that might result in me inviting myspace members from Beverly Hills or nearby.

As a comic since 1989 fans miss out on a lot of places to see up and coming comics. Many of those places will allow you to see comics as good as anyone on HBO or showtime. But fans miss out because these places aren't publicized. Nor are the comics who work the hardest and improve the easiest to find. This semi-moderated list will help fans seperate the diamonds from the roughs.

POSTING RULES:

{While this is an open list, I will be doing some moderating. I want people to be able to voice their opinion, but follow these rules:}

1.) I will allow members to recommend to me any LA comic or venue. I will keep an open mind and give them the credit they deserve. But I will also call any member on any outright lie.

2.) Don't recommend a comic because they're a friend. Recommend them because they're good.

3.) Try to only stick with up and coming comics that offer audio or video clips on their site so members can make up their own minds.

4.) Don't recommend any venue that you book. And don't ask a friend to do it for you.

5.) As the sole exception to rule 4, if this group has already singled out your venue for excellence or quality then feel free {as the booker} to post the line up for that week with credits, but keep it brief. After the show passes the line up will be deleted.

6.) If you are listing the line up for a show please include the venue, city date and time of the show in the title of the post. Ex: [LAUGH FACT LINE UP: This TUE 9pm. - Followed by your comments.]

7.) If you are a comic, the only comic you're not allowed to recommend is yourself. And, don't ask a friend to do it for you. If a fan does it without you asking, that's fine.

8.) And, finally, this group is not to be used to promote comedy industry related websites {sites for comedians}. However, if a great comic puts out a new product you may let members know about it. For instance, if Tim Allen puts out what you consider to be a great book, by all means let someone know.

If you violate these rules your post will be removed.
