Presenting Van Trillo and Sam Suede. A fast-talking, no-nonsense detective duo with a difference: Trillo is a ventriloquist, and Suede is a dummy. Set in a place that looks very like the 1940's in New York City's Chinatown, Trillo and Suede grapple with an endless array of gangsters and grifters, murderers and misfits, spies and saps, con men and cops, politicians on the take and femmes fatales on the make, as they unravel each episode's suspense-filled mystery.

Think Roger Rabbit meets the Maltese Falcon in a film noir Never-never land populated by Dummies (instead of Toons) as well as your normal run-of-the-mill Bad Guys.

In a series of films reminiscent of the great Bing Crosby and Bob Hope Road to movies, Trillo and Suede solve crimes and defeat the villains not just in their home town of New York, but across the world.

In Hong Kong Canary the spirit of Bogart rises again in the dark alleys of New Yorks Chinatown. Who is the frightened and seductive - dame who turns up one day in the ramshackle office? If Trillo and Suede are her last hope, how desperate must she be?

In Bengali Takeaway, Trillo and Suede travel to India in pursuit of a set of stolen statuettes, supposedly with mystical powers, and find themselves involved in a very modern story with its roots in the distant past.

In Gooseford Park theyre invited to a country house weekend in England and we all know what happens in English Country Houses. Will they uncover the murderer and return the jewels to their rightful owner? What guilty secrets went to the grave with Lord Gooseford?

Shanghai Surprise sees the duo of ace detectives taken for a slow-boat ride all the way to China. Are they right to follow the Triad trail from their home town, or will it turn out to be the biggest mistake of their lives?

It's film noir through the eyes of the Marx Brothers. It's Charlie Chan meets Charlie McCarthy; Philip Marlowe meets the Muppets; Humphrey Bogart meets Edgar Bergen.. .except that Suede is tougher than Bogie, and Trillo (as played by real-life ventriloquist Jonathan Geffner) is a better ventriloquist than Edgar Bergen.

A colourful cast of both human and puppet characters cavort through a movie and each 60-minute episode.
