Kirsty first came to public prominence in the early 90's with the number 1 single 'Fine Day' from Opus III. A massive and influential record, this provided Kirsty with a platform to expand her musical vistas and collaborate with a host of pioneers in electronic music including Orbital, Steve Hillage, & Rachid Taha. It was her vocal talents that provided Orbital with arguably two of their finest moments - 'Halcyon' & 'Lush'. Since then she has gone on to work with a who's who of today's leading electronica /dance producers and artists including Hybrid, Delerium, Global Communication, Matrix, Ian Pooley, Judie Tzuke, Way Out West, Pole Folder, Sleepthief, Ikon, Lange, DJ Sam,to name but a few.
This musical prowess is not surprising when one considers Kirsty's background. Her grandmother was a successful opera singer and her father a highly respected composer. Leaving home at 17, Kirsty was initially influenced in her musical direction by seminal indie label 4AD., and the dance explosion which kicked off in the late 80's.

Over the past few years, Kirsty has developed her writing skills and has become not only an in demand vocalist, adding a uniquely idiosyncratic quality to many leading dance hits, but also a highly respected lyricist, providing infectious melodies, memorable hooks, and contrasting vocal shades and tones. As well as making dance music, Kirsty writes childrens music, and also has composed for film and T.V. An area where she fully intends to focus more energy on in the future.

Kirsty's lyrics and vocals can be heard on Future Funk Squads new album, 'View to me', DJ Tiesto's chart hits Urban Train and the classic Tiesto Judie Tzuke/Jimmy Gomez cover 'Just Be'. Just Be Me (Same song, original version, er... better one!) can now be heard on Meta Message the new Kirsty Hawkshaw album on Nettwerk records. , Slovo (AKA Faithless collaborator Dave Randall), new Hybrid tracks, Pole Folder 'Faith in Me' on Zero Gold, DJ Mr Sam 'insight, split, and Lodestar. Kirsty is currently touring completely live with her husband Tom Greenwood (formal Finlay Quaye guitarist) the songs that have been dance hits as acoustic renditions. Kirsty is currently working on her New album, and has also re-released her first solo album On Ultimate Things which is now available for sale on www.kirstyhawkshaw.co.uk
