The Bolivarian Youth is a political youth organization with members from all over the world. We are interested in making our world better by actively working for positive social, political, and economic change. We consider the world as the frame of reference for our politics. One third of the world, about 2 billion human beings, lives in darkness with no electricity or any other modern form of energy. This fact alone leads us to believe that there are huge numbers of people being left out in the world. Billions of people have been born with virtually no chance at all for higher education or even literacy. Others are condemned at birth to live a life as a second-class citizen based only on the color of the skin, sexual orientation, or gender. We are firm in the fight agains thtis alienation of large sectors of humanity for issues of class, race, and sex.
We can make a particularly important change as youth from the U.S. where many of the world's affairs are orchestrated. The strength of the U.S. economy and military might overwhelm the rest of the world's states in terms of size but the real power lies in the people around the world calling for change. We see the Civil Rights movement, the anti-Vietnam War movement, and anti-Colonialist movements in Africa as examples of popular resolve making a real difference. Simon Bolivar is our great influence in the struggle for a unified Latin America. The people of Latin America can and must unify in order to improve conditions across the region. We also look to leaders like Malcolm X who spoke the truth about self-defense, the oppressive conditions of most of the world, and how revolutionary change is needed.
The Bolivarian Youth is a youth organization composed of youth who see the need for change in the world on many different levels. Students and young workers are seeing the ever increasing cost of living, access to healthcare and education becoming more and more difficult, growing disparities between the rich and the poor, an ever-growing layer of the unemployed and underemployed, and continuous cutbacks of already needy social programs. We see ever so clearly how the profit-driven system under which we live has been directly responsible for environmental degradation all around the world. This is manifested in deforestation, desertification, abnormal flood and dry seasons, rising ocean temperatrues, and the extiction of thousands of species around the earth. The struggle for change is becoming more and more important as each day passes; the earth is being degraded by irresponsible profit-driven industries backed by rich-led governments with stakes in the industrial profits.
We take a position against the U.S. war in Iraq with no strings attached. U.S. troops home now! The history of the United States military is one of undue violence and total disrespect of state sovereignty economically and lawfully. Since 1948 the U.S. has been involved in over 20 large-scale military conflicts in the world. The Bolivarian Youth members are heterogeneous but we stand together in saying: A Better World is Possible, Only if it's Socialist!
We are composed of Marxists, libertarian socialists, and other revolutionary minded young people. We look to the example of the Cuban Revolution and the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela for inspiration and leadership. We are concerned with social justice and revolutionary change in the United States. We are active in workers' rights struggles, student activism, and solidarity movements with people from Venezuela, Cuba, Haiti, and all other progressive struggles worldwide. Our Main goal is to change the face of Miami, from a bastion of right-wingers.
We think that the only way to make real change is by uniting like-minded youth of all tendencies that are interested in anti-capitalist work. |
