Richard Abidin Breen was born on the 29th of June 1979 to a Turkish father and Irish mother in the working-class Hackney section of London. His dad, a musician, left when he was young and mom Kay raised the boy herself. At an early age, he was singing, imitating and playing pretend. His mum would make Richard fancy costumes. He especially loved being Michael Jackson. At age 8, he had a little band with his cousin, Izzy. Recognizing his talent, he was accepted into the famed Italia
Conti stage school and started auditioning in London by age 16. He spent his spare time listening to the underground sounds of London and learning to DJ. Richard had taken ballet lessons [he loved the girls] and was naturally graceful.

At age 17 Richard joined a band, also known as 5ive. After being succesfull for five years, the band decided to break-up at the 27th of September 2001. All the
members of Five agreed that it was time to stop, except for Abs, he wanted to continue.

For months Richard sat at home doing nothing, till suddenly an old producer called him and asked him if he wanted to record some songs. This was the start of his solo career. He released 3 songs, What You Got, Stop Sign and Miss Perfect of his debut album 'Abstract Theory' which was released on September 1st 2003. Unfortantly the album didn't do as good as expected. His label BMG was doing a bit of a cleaning and decided to let Richard go.

Except for a couple of clubbing pictures, we haven't
heard much from him. There were rumours that he was suppose to be on the reality TV show 'Love Island' (2006). He pulled out at the last moment.

Abs' music career started when he was 17. He joined the group 5ive. With 5ive he has brought out 3 CD's and 13 singles. They have been successful all over the world and were not just your average boyband (they preferred to be called 'ladband'). After 5ive split up, Abs had the opportunity to go solo. Unfortunately he has only brought out 1 CD so far. His old label (BMG) did poorly on the promotion so it didn't got the attention that it should have gotten. BMG decided to do some cleaning
and Mr. Breen was one of the people that had to leave. Only 3 singles were brought out and they were
al top 10 hits. A fourth was supposed to come out (a video was already shot), but got pulled back at
the last minute.
