Purpose:
My goals for this community is to provide non-profit consulting advice for potential University applicants and promote an online community of high school students who help each other achieve their common admission goals.
How:
I believe in the "Socratic" teaching style, which is the idea of learning from each other. There is so much more you can learn from each other than you can learn from just one teacher. This community is made up of high school students, university students, and established university alumni. It is your advantage to utilize this network to gain knowledge and advice from those who have already graduated or been accepted to the University of your desire and to learn from their experiences and how they overcame their obstacles to achieve their University goals
Why:
I created this group because I was in the same place as so many graduating high school seniors today, after taking SATs I had no idea what to do next. I didn’t have a support network or an academic counselor to ask for advice to help me complete my University applications.
Not many of us high school graduates were born with straight ’A’ academic talents, however many of us are perfect candidates for Universities such as UCLA, Berkeley, Cal Poly Pomona, and San Diego State. It is only a matter of polishing up your application by taking the right steps in creating your academic story when the time comes to apply for University. Examples of taking the right steps include enrolling in college prepatory courses offered at your high school, participating in positive extra-curricular activities, and understanding that each application has a unique story with different circumstances and family backgrounds.
