About Sophia:

Sophia Myles, was born March 18, 1980 in England. A few years later her brother, Oliver, was born. Her parents names are Peter and Jane. Her father is vicar, a priest in the Anglican Church who is in charge of a parish and receives a salary but not the tithes of the church. Her mother works in publishing. Sophia lived in Notting Hill until she was 11 , and attended Fox Primary School. Her father was later relocated to Isleworth, a suburb west of London.

At 16 Sophia starred in a school production of Teachers written by Kevin Godber. Among those in attendance, Julian Fellowes, the Oscar winning writer of Gosford Park. Sophia was subsequently cast in the BBC production of The Prince & The Pauper. Julian Fellowes worked on the script. Two years after her role in The Prince & The Pauper, Sophia was cast as young Saffron in the TV mini series Big Women. In 1999, after recently enrolling in Cambridge University to study philosophy, she got a small part in Mansfield Park playing Susan. Before heading to school, Sophia was cast as Agnes Fleming in the TV series, Oliver Twist. (The series also starred Keira Knightley.) After which, she dropped out to pursue acting.

After that, Sophia got a number of small parts in movies and television shows. Most notably, she was cast as Johnny Depp's wife in From Hell. She also starred in The Life & Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, The Abduction Club, Heartbeat, and Foyle's War; the latter 2 of which are TV series.

In 2003, Sophia got a supporting role in Underworld opposite fellow British beauty Kate Beckinsale (Pearl Harbor). Up next, Sophia was cast in the thriller Out of Bounds as Louise, about an awkward young girl in an English boarding school who falls in love with her American art teacher who is married to the headmistress. Things are not as they seem, and Louise must find out who is guilty of murder before its too late.

Later that same year, Sophia was cast in the big screen version of English cult hit the Thunderbirds. Though, the movie didn’t perform as expected, Sophia earned praise for her role as the iconic Lady Penelope. Soon, Sophia began working on Art School Confidential, directed by Terry Zwigoff (Ghost World) playing an American who is the muse of student in art school. Afterwards, she returned to her television roots, starring in Colditz as Lizzie Carter who is the object of affection and desire for 2 brothers. She then appeared in Marple: Sleeping Murder as a young woman who discovers that as a child she witnessed a murder.

Sophia was cast in Tristan & Isolde. She played Isolde, the fiery young Irish princess who is promised to an evil man, that she does not love. In battle Tristan (James Franco, Spider Man) is mortally wounded and set to sea. His boat washes ashore in Ireland and found by Isolde who nurses him back to health. To avoid becoming attached to Tristan, Isolde tells him her name is Bragnae and that she is a lady-in-waiting at the palace. Still, they fall mad and passionately in love. Their affair is ended, however, when her father discovers that an enemy is ashore. Tristan must sail home, literally returning from the dead.

Back home in England, as Tristan continues to recover he hears that the Irish king is offering his daughters hand to the one who wins a tournament. Tristan goes, promising to win the fair Isolde’s hand in marriage for his own king, thus uniting the feuding English tribes together and becoming allies with Ireland. There Tristan hopes to find Bragnae and return with her, only to discover that Bragnae is Isolde. Both hearts are broken when they realize that she must marry a man she does not love.

In 2006 Sophia again returned to television starring Madame de Pompadour in Doctor Who as the Doctor’s true love. She is now dating the star, David Tennant. She was previously linked to her Nicholas Nickelby co-star, Charles Dance who is 35 years older than her.

Sophia has garnered a reputation for picking her work carefully, basing her decisions on directors and script quality. She is a natural young talent; that will surely lead her to become the next Brit It Girl with her roles in Tristan & Isolde and Art School Confidential bringing her to the attention of American audiences.
