H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival

Our purpose: promote the works of H.P. Lovecraft, literary horror, & weird tales through the cinematic adaptations by professional & amateur filmmakers. The festival was founded in 1995 by Andrew Migliore in the hope that H.P. Lovecraft would be rightly recognized as a master of gothic horror and his work more faithfully adapted to film & television.

The fiction of H.P. Lovecraft, though still popular in print, has fared rather poorly when adapted to film by commercial filmmakers. Most of the problem stems from both a failure to capture the essence of Lovecraft's unique and meticulously developed atmosphere and an inability to remain faithful to the story without adding unnecessary Hollywood devices in order to sell the film.

We hope that through this festival, H.P. Lovecraft will be taken seriously as a writer and his work more faithfully adapted to film.

3. You may promote other groups... as long as they are H.P. Lovecraft related. Please make these posts in the Bulletin section and NOT the forum.

4. Feel free to post links, quizzes and images, just be sure they are Lovecraftian in nature.

5. You may promote events and items for sale (wares, artwork, books, films, etc) as long as they are related to H.P. Lovecraft or his works. Please make these posts in the Bulletin section and NOT the forum.
