De facto Guidlines: Under LB Supreme Court Ruling (Washington State)

1. The natural or legal parent consented to establish a standing relationship.
2. The petitioner and child lived together in the same household.
3. The petitioner assumed obligations of parenthood without exception of finacial compensation, and
4. the petitioner has been a parental role for a lenght of time suffcient to establish, parental in nature.

In addition, recognition of a de facto parent is "limited to those adults who have fully and completly undertake a permanent, unequivocal, committed and responsible parental role in the childs life."


For to long indaviduals have made the dedication to become a parent only to have no rights as a parent because they were not be biological connected to a child or married.
